About Gary

Gary Andrews is an award-winning broadcast journalist and writer, who has since moved through into the world of PR, marketing and social media.

I’m not fond of describing myself in the third person, so we’ll stop that nonsense now.

I’ve worked around various corners of the web, for broadcasters and media companies big and small, including ITV, BBC and Spotlight.

I now reside at PR agency Ruder Finn as their campaigns and communities manager. You can read more from me at the official Ruder Finn blog.

This corner of the web are jottings on everything and anything, but will probably mostly be about the media, social media, football and food.

And if you’re noticing things are a little sparse, it’s a lesson in what happens when you forget to backup your content.

Contact me

I can be contacted on gary[at]garyandrews[removethisbit][dot]net. I’d prefer it if you’d attach vast sums of money in the process of doing so. However, I’ll settle for a pie, or even just a cup of tea and a biscuit.

You can also follow me on Twitter. If email isn’t working, shouting at me on Twitter is the best way to get my attention.

  1. Tsktsk, you call yourself a writer and yet, there are two spelling mistakes in your bio, neither of which would be picked up by the spell checker.

Sorry, proof-reading has sort of become second nature to me, so I just had to point the typos out. No offense meant!

  2. Thanks Dani. I’ve spotted a couple of errors and changed them, although I’m not sure if those were the ones you mentioned. I’m not great at proofing my own stuff, mainly because I just can’t see things once I finish writing. I’m the same at work.

Give me somebody else’s stuff though…

  5. Woah, woah, woah. Hold on Tracey. I know Dani and her comment was very much tongue-in-cheek (and entirely valid – plus was posted just after I launched the blog). It probably doesn’t come across particularly well on here.

I keep Dani’s comment on here to remind me to spellcheck and proofread thoroughly :) Dani’s quite a thorough proofreader and I never mind people pointing out errors in my writing – it helps keep me on my toes!

Thanks for sticking up for me though!

  6. Hi Gary, was just searching online for some tips for aspiring football/sports journalists and was directed to your previous blog, subsequently found myself on here!

Over the summer Ive started up my own sports blog (starting a sports journalism course at university in September) with the hope of getting my work out their, any advice on promoting my work?

  7. Ha, no. You’ve never seen me on a football pitch – useless doesn’t even cover it. I didn’t even know I had a former footballer namesake.
